Howdy Folks, We have been thinking about the menu for Rangy Lil’s, and have come up with what we think will be a varied and tasty menu. We are basically planning one option for breakfast, and one for lunch every day, with a vegetarian option. We had come to rely on the Hungry Henry’s, so last year was pretty hard for us and a lot of folks who don’t really want to be spending most of the day preparing food. I am not a short order cook, and not planning to replicate their menu at all, but to be original and creative, and hopefully offer seriously good eating. The following menu is simply a list of items we are thinking of doing, with a description to get you drooling all over your keyboard. Our emphasis is on substantial, healthy and delicious, and very affordable. Real ingredients too – real butter, real maple syrup, real honey, real molasses etc. We welcome suggestions and questions – you can email us at captain@cap-n-ball.com. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Buttermilk Pancakes – choice of side
Made with an amazing 9 grain organic pancake mix, eggs, buttermilk and corn oil– I can guarantee you have never had pancakes like these. Sides would be fried eggs, or bacon or sausage, with real maple syrup, honey, molasses or brown sugar to put on your pancakes
Applejacks
The same wonderful pancakes with butter fried apple slices, and maybe berries as well. Plus real maple syrup etc
Porridge
Not your regular oatmeal – I make it with whole oats and milk for both texture and creaminess, and then you top it with real maple syrup, honey, molasses or brown sugar. Big bowl – very substantial
French toast
Wholemeal bread slices soaked in egg and fried in butter and olive oil. Probably with a side of bacon or sausage, or butter fried apple, and then you top it with real maple syrup, honey, molasses or brown sugar.
Burritos
Breakfast burritos filled with bacon, sausage, garlic, potatoes, onions, eggs, red peppers and seasonings. Vegetarian version will have garlic, potatoes, onions, eggs, red peppers, zucchini and corn, with seasonings.
Hominy and Sausage (seriously colorful)(and tasty)
Yellow and white hominy with bacon, sausage, garlic, onions, peppers, zucchini and other veggies to hand, and topped with a fried egg for the seriously famished.
Bowl of Stew
Big bowl of beef or buffalo stew with all the usual ingredients plus Rangy Lil’s seasonings and Stout beer, with a hunk of artesan bread.
Split Pea Soup
Thick and hearty, with lots of garlic and chunks of potato, with a hunk of artesan bread.
Hominy and Sausage
Yellow and white hominy with sausage, garlic, onions, peppers, zucchini and other veggies to hand, and topped with a fried egg for the seriously famished.
Spaghetti Bolognese
An old mountain man recipe from Old England, long forgotten and then revived by yours truly – involves lots of olive oil and garlic, with a tasty meat sauce.
Lentil Soup
Full of good things, with a hunk of artisan bread
Bowl of Beans with Cheese
The plan would be to have this available most days for the vegetarian or not so hungry – beans simmered with garlic, onion, bay leaves and peppercorns, stirred with butter and olive oil and seasonings, served with a topping of grated cheese.
For drinks we plan to offer coffee, and though I say it myself Cap’n Ball makes seriously good coffee, lemonade, and bottled water.
Each day we will offer one menu per meal. At least one day there will be breakfast burritos and at least once there will be a pancake breakfast. We will be posting the full week's menus closer to to the event. Check it out before you pack your food.
